WingFoil Open Racing Class: https://wingfoilracing.com/images/documents/classrules/CR%20-%20WFO_20250120.pdf

The new rules (highlighted in red) will apply from 01 May 2025 onwards to allow everyone to comply with any changed rules.

The key changes are:

Formula Wing:

  • Introduce registered series production equipment (townhall call for builders with World Sailing will follow)
  • Change from 3 to 2 wings per event
  • Minimum size of window per side: 400cm2
  • Wingsizes per event:
    • Men: 5.5 and bigger / 5.5 and smaller
    • Women/Youth (U19 and younger): 5.0 and bigger / 5.0 and smaller

WingFoil Open (World Cup Series):

  • Mandatory windows in the wing
  • Minimum size of window per side: 400cm2

For clarification:

The registered series production scheme is currently being developed with World Sailing. All brands that are currently producing equipment will be able to register their equipment with a simple declaration. Details will be discussed between World Sailing, IWSA and the brands on a townhall call in February.
We expect the registered equipment list to go live beginning of March, but you can expect that it will include all of your current equipment (or equipment getting on the market till then).
It is NOT necessary to buy equipment from a certain brand.
The registration requirements only apply for wings and foils. Boards remain unregulated (at this stage)
